I’m obsessed with a childrens’ TV show named Adventure Time.

There is just something about this show that makes me fall in love with it every single time I watch it. Well, there are lots of things about this show that do that.
Thing One: It looks great. If you just saw a still, you’d probably think it was simple looking. But the animation is really wonderful. It flows and bounces in this way that makes everything look that much more exciting. This is especially true of Jake the Dog, who can shift the size and shape of his body in a nearly infinite number of ways. There are times when the show approaches acid-trip levels of visuals, which works really well with the basic design elements of the characters and scenery.
Thing Two: The music really stands out from the soundtrack in other shows. The bouncy blend of chip-tunes and rock is just fantastic. It reminds me a lot of Anamanaguchi, one of my absolute favorite bands which happens to mix power-punk rock with a hacked NES. I would probably die if they ever scored an episode of the show.
Thing Three: The voice talent in the show brings it. My personal favorite is Tom Kenny, who plays Ice King, the villainous dolt. He plays the character with a level of innocence that manages to make me love him despite the fact that he is typically up to no good.
Thing Four: Like any creative work that is truly great, Adventure Time has fantastic stories. The stories always manage to make me feel like a kid again. This show is what is going on inside the mind of every little boy, it’s just been put on paper and animated into an awesome series. It’s a world of monsters, best friends, battles, video games, and just a little bit of romance. The end result can only be described as “fucking adorable”.
Thing Five: There’s one reason that I freaking LOVE Adventure Time that is above all others. This show is super positive. No matter what, every character is positive. They may say some mean things, and there are rare occasions when they are negative, but they always realize that it isn’t helping them and change their ways. Every show ends on a positive note. It makes me smile every time. This morning I realized that I’m 27 years old and that this show inspires the crap out of me. Every time I finish an episode I’ve got this wonderful “I can accomplish anything” feeling. It makes me super happy all over, which is a feeling to be treasured.
So go watch Adventure Time, and bring your friends, because you’re all going to enjoy it.
